Our Fire Island Dispensary

Fire Island is the brainchild of local brothers Zack and Josh Everitt, and their better halves, Becky and Kara Everitt.  After living and working in the Gratiot County area for many years — Zack, a local attorney with Gallagher, Everitt & Associates; Josh, owner/operator of Jake’s Small Engine Repair; Becky an administrative professional at CMU; and Kara, owner/manager of Crossroads Bar and Grill – have combined their talents and vision to bring you Gratiot County’s first family-owned recreational cannabis retail store.

Zack first noted the benefits of medical marijuana following a terrible accident which left him with devastating injuries including multiple facial and skull fractures, and a traumatic brain injury. During his lengthy recovery, Zack struggled with anxiety, depression and sleeplessness, and the suggested prescription treatments all seemed to carry significant side effects, while doing little to actually alleviate his symptoms. After a friend suggested cannabis, he experienced his first full night’s sleep in recent memory, and began his journey that ultimately led to the Fire Island project.

Zack has been a zealous advocate for cannabis at the local level, and has represented clients in cannabis-related matters for years.  He was actively involved in the process of the City of Alma passing its first ordinance for medical marijuana in Alma, Michigan, and worked with Arcada Township to pass their ordinance in 2021, which allowed the Fire Island Provisioning Center project to move forward.
